Oracle Developer Day

Post by jacek.s » Wed Oct 26, 2016 4:45 am

Hi,

I'm trying to install Oracle ova package on my QNAP TS-253A 8GB (256GB SSD installed). The process stops at converting stage with the message below.
I tried to install Oracle 12c and Oracle 11g (which is mentioned in this tutorial http://qnap.community/viewtopic.php?t=52), both fail with the same error.

Is there anything I can do about that? What could be a reason for this?

I'm using Virtualization Station 2.2

Thanks
Jacek

It works, turned out that getting 7GB file to qnap is quite a feat. After many tries I managed to get the correct md5...

Now, the import finishes but after booting Linux 7.2 shows desktop for 30 seconds and then bails out. Is there somewhere a log where I can see what happens?

Thanks
Jacek

I successfully installed free edition of Oracle 11 XE with Apex 4.1 in a virtual machine of qnap TVS-473. Then, I upgraded to Apex to release 5.1. I used free edition of Suse Linux server 11 (x86, 64) as an OS for virtual machine. However, I would like to know if anybody has installed Oracle directly on QTS operating system of QNAP? Or if it is possible to run a web server from Linux on virtual machine? I would like to run Apex application from QNAP.

unless Oracle brings out an app, getting a direct install qnap app would be pretty much out of reach. Is the install in a VM not working right ?

On a virtual machine Oracle 11 XE plus Apex 5.1 are working fine with Suse Linux server. It took me some time to install/configure, but works well on my network, no complains, except maybe slower performance. However, I would like to publish the webpages with Oracle/Apex on the web. I have also installed MySql, phpMyAdmin, Joomla on Qnap, and that combination kind of does the job as an alternative. However, I am more experienced in Oracle/Apex and would prefer to deploy Apex applications on Internet. At present, I am using Oracle's free cloud service for development and testing.

Well, I finally managed to get running free versions of Oracle XE, Apex and Web Server on a virtual machine (Suse Linux 11) of my QNAP. Apex applications on the virtual machine can be accessed from the web. It took me some time to configure it all. If someone is interested, I will be glad to share the experience.
