Virtuall server and virtual switch

Post by AdVitam »

Hello

Is it possible to have an virtual server or lxc or docker with 2 IP interface ?

In the help section i found an image (look the attachment) where a Mysql container is connect at 2 virtual switch.
I can't understand how to do it. In the container station or virtual station i can only choose 1 virtual switch.

The way you would accomplish what is being shown in the pictures is by having 2 virtual NICs attached to the VM.

1 vNic is mapped to a vSwitch/vLAN used by Container station, the other vSwitch mapped to a vSwitch/vLAN primarily used for VMs.

This is different though from a use case of having say a webserver, that needs multiple virtual IP's on the same subnet/vlan. In that case you are dealing with a single vSwitch/VLAN scenario.

I finally understand how to do it with VirtualStation 3 :
- create a VM with an adapter connected on the virtualswitch
- when your VM is create, go in the setting and "add device" and choose "Network"

Its not difficult ... when you know its not possible to create the VM with 2 adapter ... :-)

In ContainerStation, it look not possible to do the same. When you create an lxc container, you have 1 adapter (bridge or NAT) and then you can just modify it, not add an other adapter.

Well i will can do what i want with VirtualStation :)
