Setting up Ubuntu Server VS 3.0 no DHCP

Hey guys,
I purchased a TS-251+ to use as a NAS and to run some old legacy software on in a VM. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to setup the Virtual Switch and the network for the VM to allow it to pull an IP from my network. I have done extensive research on Google and have found that all the tutorials reference the 2.0 version of VS. This is frustrating because that version appears to have more settings and easier to work with. Any help from someone would be really great.
