Thanks for the replies. I now have WinSvr2016 running fine in V.S. I initially tried to do too many things at once by trying to addach additional CD's and HDs to add VirtIO drivers for network and HD. After I did a simple install from MS ISO all went smoothly. Note, one cannot select Svr 2016 as OS (not listed as choice on V.S) so I picked Svr2012R2 as OS (but installed Svr2016)

You probably could have also used Windows10 as they share the same kernel base.

Hi there, i ran into the same problem. Cant even install the Server 2016 on SATA or VIRTIO.

Missing drivers for VIRTIO and SCSI during installation. Only thing working is IDE which has the performance of a lagging granddmother.
I also tried to use the newest drivers from https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Windows_Virtio_Drivers

Any hints for this case ?

Regards, Henere

I also have the same issue. I am not able to install or run Server 2016 virtual machine on SATA, SCSI and VIRTIO. It only works on IDE which is very slow. It appears drivers are missing for the other HDD platforms. It has been more than a year now I have been waiting for QNAP to come up with an update that will take care of this issue but it appears this is not currently on their radar. I will be very glad if anyone could help. Thanks

Below are the specs of my qnap:

You like need to follow the link I posted previously to download newer VirtIO drivers which will support Win2016. The directions for Win10 are basically the same that you would follow for Win2016. Also make sure the HDD controller caching mode is set to write-back (assuming your NAS is on a UPS) will also help performance (although adds slight risk for data corruption if VS/NAS crashes prior to destaging cache).
