Creating new VM from IMG file - can't see the IMG file

Post by kkeane »

I am trying to create a new VM in VirtualizationStation from an existing IMG file. When I try to find the IMG file, the directory is empty.

QNAP TS-251+, 8 GB, 4.3.4.

More details: I have an existing libvirt/QEMU server and want to migrate one of the VMs. I used qemu-img to convert the image from qcow2 to img, and then used NFS to move it over to the correct directory on the QNAP device.

The qemu-img command I used is:

qemu-img convert -f qcow2 -O raw Dns.qcow2 Dns.img

I then go to Create New VM, and select "use existing image". Then I use "browse" to navigate to the folder where the image is, but to VirtualizationStation, the folder appears empty.

QVM doesn't seem to support raw images, or at least it doesn't recognize them.

Keep it in qcow2 format and rename it img and it should work fine.
