Hi,

I am a little confused what to use/need to work with vsphere and qnap.

I have connected 3 iscsi luns to my vpshere box. I see that my qnap is vaai supported.

Do I need to install a qnap nas plugin (.vib) when yes whats the latest I only did find some post mention it but not the download link

I did install the QNAPvSpherePlugin, nothing happens ?!! Then I found QNAPvSpherePlugin_2_1_041 install nothing happens ?!
I found this what should be a plugin for webinterface QVWCPlugin_2.1.133 it installs but at the screen when you can fill in vcenter server + account both the fqdn and ip address fail cannot register it.

Did install QNAP_Snapshot_Agent_1_3_052 and it installs but at vcenter settings it does fail to connect.

Who has got the tools above working and on which vsphere server version.

I would raise a ticket. Once again documentation sparse on the ground.

I'm interested in knowing what is the advantage of ESXI to the NAS over iSCSI vs. NFS shares. In my VMWare farm all ESXI hosts are connected via 10gbit over a dedicated switch to the NAS using NFS and I'm very happy with that.
Beside that, I would open a ticket, too. That sounds like a broken plugin.

You only need the plugin for VAAI when using NFS. With iSCSI, providing your NAS supports it, VAAI should be enabled by default.

Check by one of two methods:

Go to host > configure > storage devices > select the QNAP device > check to see if Hardware Accelleration is supported.

Or use command line on a host:

Code: Select all

esxcli storage core device vaai status get
This is my QNAP:

Code: Select all
