Import VMware VCSA OVA in Virtulization Station (Max 7 disk SCSI)

Post by sebigeli »

Hello,

I am redoing my homelab. I have two ESXI hosts in version 6.7 (for the moment) the two hosts not that 16 GB of RAM each (mini PC HP style Intel NUC, very low consumption).
I am therefore looking to deploy my VCSA elsewhere than on my ESXI hosts.
I thought about my NAS (TS 453 PRO 16 GB of RAM), the problem is the number of disks in the vCenter VM, it has 13 in SCSI. Virtualization Station is limited to a maximum of 7 SCSI drives. I have tried converting the 13 VMDKs to 1 single with the tool (vmware-vdiskmanager) but it does not work, has anyone succeeded? a solution?

Is there a solution to remove the clamping of the 7 SCSI disks on a VM? Thank you

I don't want to use the Windows version of vCenter since it has been dropped in version 7.0

I tried to mount the VCSA on a nested ESXI but the performance is poor.

Thank you!

Easiest solution. Buy more memory for your HP boxes. You are going to need much more memory than you have now.

I am running 3 dells boxes with 256GB each for my hosts and using Qnap (over 10GbE) for iSCSI and NFS.
