RAID with Vmware on TS-469Pro+ : 10 or 5

Post by andrea2011 »

Hi guys,
I'm in doubt about what raid level is better between raid 10 and raid 5, with four disks.
I suppose that raid 10 is faster than raid 5 and those are both secure in case of 1 disk fail.
I suppose that the only difference is in the space avalaible after creation of array: raid 10 in this sense is most expensive (4x1T in raid 10 gives 2T - 4x1T in raid 5 gives 2,7T).

I wish have a feedback from you and your environment.

Thank's for any suggest or tips!

Andrea :P

Thank's for ypur replay. I saw many qnap performance chats and seems that ther's no big speed difference between raid 5 and 10. (This sounds a little bit strange for me, but if this is the situation... )

Did someone try himselfe both raid configuration?

Bye bye, Andrea
