QNAP Integration in windows server environment

Postby lcuizon35 » Sat Jul 15, 2017 11:30 am

Hi Guys,
i am new to QNAP and still learning the environment, configuration deployment of QNAP, i have here QNAP TS 870 Pro NAS back up solution.
what would be the best configuration for this, i have an existing Windows server 2012 R2 environment running with Domain controller DHCP DNS and everything.
can anyone suggest me what would be the best way to configure my QNAP NAS.
Thank you.

regards,
Lyndon

if you only use the qnap as a backup target then just mount it on the system you want to back up and that's it...no need to join it into the domain (just add a user for the system manually)

Hi Dolbyman,
Thanks for the reply. i want to connect the QNAP in our network so that it will be available to all user's and i will teach them how to sync there files to the backup storage.

oh I see...make sure the qnap is backup and not primary storage ..otherwise make sure to backup the qnap as well (good idea anyways)

check the manual on how to join to ad and manage user and group permissions
