QNAP LDAP to Active Directory migration

Post by davbass »

Hello,

My company currently uses QNAPs as main file servers, with the included LDAP server as main directory. So far so good, the main LDAP is on the HQ's QNAP and all remote sites connect to this directory.

Current LDAP has around 400 users.

We are now going to implement an Active Directory and my concern is about how both worlds are going to work together.

Several questions :

- How do we go from the local LDAP service to AD without losing all permissions on folders ?
- Will we have to use both directories ? One for the computer accounts, one for the network shares ?
- The point is to have only on directory to create user accounts, I don't want to have to create a new users account on Windows AD and on the QNAP so the user can access the files.

If you have any input on this, it will be a great help.

Cheers
David
