Show username instead of uid in terminal

Post by makz_ »

Hello,

I have a qnap joined to a windows active directory, everything work good but unfortunately when i ssh in the nas and use ls -l to show files & permissions, only the uid/gid is showed it's not translated to the username / groupname.

This is very unconfortable to use and debug permissions. I'm forced to use wbinfo command to see which group have this gid ect ...

You can see an example in the screenshot in attachements.

Is there a fix to start translating id into names ?

Btw if i list a user with "id DOMAIN\user" it don't list windows ad groups at all, only local one.
My nsswitch.conf have the winbind argument for passwd & group so it should be ok.

I hope someone will have a fix for me.

Thank you.
