Need advice, i'll be honest, i'm clueless

Post by stuartturrell »

Hi all,

NOw i am good with computer, i even dabble with Linux a fair bit these days but there is one thing i'm not sure on and that's Windows AD.

Now at work, we all have account logins into Windows. Whatever PC we log into, all our settings, desktops privileges are there.

I want to bring that functionality to us here at home, using my QNAP453Pro.

Am i correct to assume it is windows AD that i require?! and i already have the PC's with accounts setup, does this make it extremely difficult now to setup?
I think if anyone knows of a great stage by stage setup somewhere on the net that could help me here, i would appreciate a link to it (Taylored to QNAP and using windows accounts already setup on the devices around the home), which are windows 10.

Cheers guys,
Stuart

the functionality you want is roaming user profiles.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roaming_user_profile

doubt that the QNAP implementation of AD would support it
