NAS as a domain controller and Active Directory

Hi,

Can the following be confirmed. If the NAS is enabled as a Domain Controller, it would appear that the local accounts remain and new domain accounts are created. Only these domain accounts can access the shares from Windows based clients.

If the Domain Controller is disabled will local user accounts be able to access the shares from Windows based computers again?

Active directory will be enabled when Domain Controller is enabled?

Does enabling Active Directory require a Windows Domain? Or is QNAP AD autonomous?

If autonomous, at a later date, can a Windows Server be configured as a DC and have the QNAP AD replicated to it? Can the QNAP then be demoted and removed without impact on AD?
