Re: Can't connect new PC to domain
If the other PCs work(ed) why are you asking these questions?psb wrote:Pulling my hair out with this one! We've never had issues before.
Can you just confirm, should the IP address on the computer be set to automatic, or should I set to an IP range in my domain. Subnet? Default gateway?
I currently have the Preferred DNS set to the nas IP, and alternate set to 4.4.8.8
Just follow what you did on the other PCs.
Perhaps you're not telling us everything.
Qnap domain controller uses SAMBA 4
Any antivirus blocking things?
Can you ping domain controller from PC you trying to login with? Does it resolve to correct address?
Have you thought of restarting NAS?
What happens if you enable SMB2 on the Win 10?
Kurt notes here may also help

Syncronize just means set the DNS setting of the PC to the IP of the DNS server (in this case the NAS)

Re: Can't connect new PC to domain
I guess the other PC's were not Windows10
I use windows10 on an actual windows DC, I have never used QNAP dc, so I can't help much

Re: Can't connect new PC to domain
I would've thought that was obvious... it doesn't work on this particular machine. It's a win10 PC. The others are windows 7.storageman wrote:psb wrote:If the other PCs work(ed) why are you asking these questions?
Thanks for the advice. I will try these things.

Re: Can't connect new PC to domain
Qnap seem to think (by their link) Windows 10 can join to their domain so raise a ticket if all else fails.

Re: Can't connect new PC to domain
Let us know the outcome, I'd like to know if Qnap have missed off some info for Win 10 users.

Re: Can't connect new PC to domain
They replied and said to synchronise the time between the NAS and the WIn10 PC. I've done that (well, as closely as i can and it can only be a fraction of a second different) and it still doesn't work.
Will post further updates

Not surprised, stuff like this stumps them.
Ask them what Windows 10 version they tested against.

Re: Can't connect new PC to domain
I hope they can figure it out. I currently have a staff member needing a new computer, a new computer sat there, but no way of connecting it to the domain. Doh.

Re: Can't connect new PC to domain
More than two weeks on and this new PC is still unable to join the domain. It's effectively a doorstop!
Can anyone help with this one? QNAP support hasn't been particularly helpful!

Re: Can't connect new PC to domain
Can I just check a couple of things...
The PC is pointing to the NAS and it allows you to put the login and password in. I've tried various iterations, from the user, to my login details, or with the administrator login in. None work. However, is there one I should only be using? This will save be entering 3 times every time.
Computer name. Should the computer name be changed locally before joining the domain to match the computer name specified in the NAS? I didn't have any of these issues when joining 8-10 other computers, but none of them were win10.
I'd really appreciate some help! It takes QNAP 2 days to reply to messages, and then they don't seem sure. I'm not sure they know what the issue is here!

Re: Can't connect new PC to domain
This is going to be rough as we don't have any info about your environment. Do you have DNS/DHCP and a real windows AD server? If so, your DHCP should be set so that all the information points to the AD server and Def Gateway is going to be there as well. All your user information should be in AD and not on the QNAP. Internal DNS should be the AD server. If your not getting the correct DHCP information such as the pc is set to manual then change it back to auto and release/renew the ip, how ever your most comfy with doing it. then join the pc to the domain once you verify the settings and can ping your <domainname.local> then the individual server names <domainserver01.local>. Then you should be set. Add the users from AD in the qnap server and check either the webpage for correct login info <domain\user> <domainpass> to verify.
Hope that helps

Re: Can't connect new PC to domain
Thanks for this...
The QNAP is the DNS server and DC. i can already ping the NAS. I'm definitely connecting to it as it gives me the option to log in (it doesnt if I put the domain name in wrong or don't have the IP pointing to the NAS.
Why does everything work fine for every other computer, but not the new win10 machine?

Re: Can't connect new PC to domain
Are the times insync on the PC and NAS?
