Add TS-653A as a RO DC

Post by david.matthewson » Fri Jul 17, 2020 2:05 am

I want to add this QNAP as a backup RO DC in a small LAN environment. Currently it is a member of AD and works fin. But trying to get it to become a BDC just results in the GUI 'Setting domain controller Failed' pop-up. I raised a ticket with QNAP and sent them the normal logs but not had any useful feedback after a few days.

So in the meanwhile, can anyone point me at the correct log file I can get to via SSH to see why this failed?

QNAP assure me (i) it's possible for it to be a BDC & (ii) even as an existing Domain Member it can still become a DC.

All help much appreciated.
