Turn off password complexity requirement

Post by mdspencer »

Using a TS-451+ with firmware version 5.0.0.1891. I have set a system password policy to just require alphabetic letters with a suitable minimum password length. The device is acting as a domain controller. If I create a local user, the password policy works just fine. If I create a domain user, it appears to apply Samba password complexity requirements. I have read that it is possible to change this in an ssh session, but that the web UI will ignore it if the policy is disabled. How do I force the web UI to follow the policy set in the security settings, or make sure it honours the samba settings?

Probably best to move away from QNAP as DC, a little PC with Windows Server would probably best (QNAP can do an LDAP Sync for users and Share permissions)

Thanks for taking time to make the suggestion. I can do what I need via the CLI if needs be. The QNAP works fine for the current use-case, so it would be good to know if it is possible to simplify the password requirement within the web UI.
