I have an AMD based NAS. The TVS-673. Would anyone have a compatible CodexPack compatilbe with my NAS that works with AC3??

Thank you!
Doesn't exist.

Very disappointing... I'll give plex a go.

Thanks for the reply.
I have that model, Plex runs very well on it.

Hello I have received an answer from technical qnap . basically they telling me that unfortunately they have removed the feature but cannot do anything about it.... wow ...
of course they can escalate the issue but..
so unless there is more noise about this they are just happy wih what they have done...
sales departement still not answer, I hope you will be more lucky.
This is a shame for Qnap.. but I guess money is more important

Your best bet would be to convert the file to a different format on a PC using something such and handbrake, etc.

Have you tried other DLNA options? Have you opened a helpdesk with QNAP to see if maybe it isn't picking the right settings and you need to do a manual override?

While in theory these it should be plug and play, very seldom is it. Especially when you start factoring in a variety of playback devices, media formats/codecs. etc.

Big Thanx to csysimon,
it works very fine on my TS-453A

to onehans

after dezipping the file, install manually in the APP-Center

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have opened a ticket at the QNAP Support.
I was told the problem is the license of AC3

alternatives (which I haven´t checked):

1: PLEX
(https://www.plex.tv/)
with costs!

free of charge:
2: Qtwonky from die community (forum.qnap.com, qnapclub.eu)
3: Twonky and Linux Station:
https://www.qnap.com/en/tutorial/con_sh ... ne&cid=252
4: Install Linux
and
VLC Media Player

skypx wrote:Until a customer actually sues Qnap for removing features that were available on the device when purchased , their behavior will continue. I'm surprised more customers are not upset about the removal of Twonky in 4.3 beta.
What ?? After removing transcoding they now have removed twonky too? Is this confirmed ?

I don't use beta realeases so cannot check it and may be a lot of us are not trying betas this is may be why nobody is screaming about another feature advertised and sold is removed.. I hope this is just a beta issue otherwise Qnap will definitively lose any credibility...

Let's see.

By the way the DLNA embedded (not twonky) is still available in 4.3 ? Thanks for confirming.

Edit: Just realised that they have removed Kodi also... not sure where to post message about removed feature in the forum now.... quite a few ...

This solution worked for me.
Don't know if its down to licensing issues with certain codecs and these have now been removed, but anyway the solution seems to have worked.

on 19.3.2017 last pattent from Dolby US5890106 has expired, so AC-3 is now free and QNAP is able to compile new codex pack with full transcoding support, crossing my fingers for that :-)

Any update on the AC-3 thing? I have updated to the new firmware and installed the new version of CodexPack but still no playback.
