Kodi works fine all the time,only HD apps like YouTube, Chrome are bad...

Any solution to this yet? This is driving me crazy, the tearing is also affecting Kodi, irrespective of what setting I use.

This actually made the screen tearing worse in Kodi, Chrome & Youtube on my TS-453Bmini. bummer.

and maybe this is easier to do. Instead of all these extras programs.
You just need a telnet / ssh program like Putty

Putty.exe and SSH to your QNAP IP adres:

ps: If you f*ckup hit ESC and do :q! (you can type in the commands at the bottom of the screen)
This will quit VI without saving the file

I will test these options because CHROME does have issue's. Vsync problem is gone but i get Framedrops / Stalls with this setup
(you can check this by clicking on the youtube video and right mouse button and choose "Stats for nerds".

Results:

No more VSYNC issue with the follow setup(browser with youtube):

Chrome and Firefox Full Screen 1080P (Chrome seems to have drops now )
2k and 4k not possible ( to High CPU load )with both
Chrome has RAM spikes with 2k and 4k

Full Screen Chrome Frame Drops
Full Screen Firefox No Frame Drops

So Vsync is gone and work on 1080P with firefox. No more vsync issue's
Chrome or script needs some tweaking.

Is someone able to run 4K video's on the 253A? I read it should (CPU can handle 4K) be possible but maybe only with the right codec.

When I try to perform the command "find -name xorg.conf.d" it just goes to the next line.

This solution worked for years, but the latest HD Station seems to overwrite any change I make in intel file. For me it's located in /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/HD_Station/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-intel.conf and adding Option "TearFree" "true" used to work, but it seems they changed something because 10-intel.conf gets generated / overwritten every time I restart HD Station (which also means on NAS restart). I don't know how to overcome this, it's probably written in some other file, but since I'm no linux expert this is beyond my knowledge. If anyone figures it out pls do share because this NAS just lost half of functionality for me.

If you want to make it permanent, you should modify the script :
/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/HD_Station/HD_Station.sh

But this modification will not survive a HDStation update.

You need to replace the following line in create_intel_graphics_conf() function :
