[Video Station] Scraping video data based on directory name

Post by af123 »

Hello,
Recently I became owner of my very first QNAP NAS (TS-251). First of all, I'd like to say hello everyone. Second, that I am very happy about the product so far ;-)

*Question*
It seems that Video Station uses file name (i.e. *.mkv) to match the title of the movie. It completely doesn't work for me: my video library is organized with directory-based naming convention (each movie is kept in a separate folder with movie name and the year of production in parenthesis, i.e. "Children of Men (2006)"). The file name itself has no pattern at all and can be quite messy.
Is there a way to tell Video Station to scrap movie data based on parent directory (like KODI) instead of filename?

*Background*
Basically, I am willing to have the following setup:
1) headless KODI with all media and library installed on NAS,
2) lightweight KODI clients installed on my androidTV, laptop and my wife's PC,
3) a straightforward access to my media from outside:
a) possible to browse the media with nice GUI and having access to all video details, etc,
b) possible to stream (without transcoding) if network conditions are good,
c) possible to one-click download a video locally to watch offline,
d) don't want to create VPN tunnel or go through messy configuration of KODI external sync;

As for 1) and 2) - it's all simple.
As for 3), I suppose that the easier option is just to go for QVideo.
