also use any freeware checksum tool
if original and copied files have the same checksum .. no corruption occured

it's .mkv files. When i copy them on NAS, they are corrupted when I try to read them. So, I copy back this same file on my pc and when I read this file, it still corrupted.

It's exactly this version that I use... Can I install an older version? Which version will be the best one?dolbyman wrote:what firmware are you running ?

try one lower....maybe talk to qnap first..I seem to remember that downgrading on arm units was not advised

your unit is powered by a low power annapurna labs arm unit (like a cellphone processor), (much) more powerful units use CPU's from intel and AMD

How did you diagnose that the problem was related to memory? Any other symptoms other than just file corruption?Yvan61 wrote:Problem found.... a memory stick defect...
I'm seeing corruption when transferring large files to the TS-831x, but I'm also having issues where backup tasks and sometimes just idle time cause things like the apache proxy service to stop and need to be manually restarted. I just factory defaulted and reformatted all drives, but just trying to restore files back to the NAS causes the CPU to spike and the webui to become unavailable.

Re: Video files get corrupted after transferring on QNAP Ts-831x
With Qnap's technician who told me that if the checksum of a file transfered is not the same as original file it's often a memory problem. I remove the second memory stick that I added a month ago and everything goes well now. If you have 2 memory sticks installed, try too remove one and check if the problem is solve..... I got also problem like you with the apache proxy and this problem is now also solved with removing the defect memory stick. It's an easy test to do and you will see if your problem will dissapear...
