Deleting Photos/Videos from QNAP apps

When you delete photos from Photo Station, Qumagie, etc. do they physically get removed from the NAS or do they just get removed from the app? (After emptying the trash of course)
In other words when I delete from the photo/video apps does that mean it is also deleted from File Station?
Does this happen no matter which user is accessing the app or does the user deleting from the app must have RW permissions to the folder where the picture is located?
