Photo Station 6.0.22 feature removed (album on login screen)

Post by Rhialto »

We could set an album to be visible on the login screen, this is now removed.

The option was still visible in 6.0.21 but the feature was not functionning for some NAS due to a recent security fix in latest firmware.

This article is now obsolete: https://www.qnap.com/en/how-to/faq/arti ... gin-screen

P.S. if you liked this feature and want it back, please open a ticket and they will add it to the feature request, they can possibly work out an alternative option.
Entered the NAS world with a TS-251+ in December 2016. As of December 2020, disks are now used in a TS-253D. :geek:

This has been discussed a number of times in the "new firmware" threads. Could also be related to how vulnerable the current wave of deadbolt is as it came through photo station apparently.

While I have no issues with people optionally installing photo frame software, IMO, this sort of thing does not belong on a login page (fortunately it was not forced on users). The more bells and whistles and spinning shiny things, the less secure. The login page should do 1 thing, present a secure, safe login mechanism. The code for this, even of not enabled by a user, probably still resides in the interface thereby increasing the threat to everyone.

If you do ask for it to come back via a ticket, please do the smart thing and ask for it on some other page or interface.
