After trying different settings in Media Library the default folders Multimedia and Home are gone in the overview.
Also adding the folder Multimedia to Media Library by self did not work.

Re: Media Library not showing Multimedia Folder
-> QNAP Customer Service.
Well, one could imagine these should be in the following file - however, I find some (garbage?) bytes at the begin of the file, so no idea if it can be freely edited:
[~] # dd if=/share/HDA_DATA/.system/mediadb.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<MEDIADB>
<MEDIAFOLDER PATH="Multimedia/" MASK="15" SECURE="0" TRANSCODETARGET="65793"/>
<MEDIAFOLDER PATH="homes/" MASK="15" SECURE="1" TRANSCODETARGET="0"/>
</MEDIADB>

Thx, I will try it.
Still waiting on some feedback from support, also.

Re: Media Library not showing Multimedia Folder
Have spotted another thread recently, where a user attempted to ** more shares manually in the XML - things did not work as expected.

Re: Media Library not showing Multimedia Folder
The support told me I have to reinstall the firmware 4.0.2 and check if my hard discs are on the compatibility list.
Really great support QNAP

Re: Media Library not showing Multimedia Folder
Re-install (-> http://wiki.qnap.com/wiki/Manually_Updating_Firmware ... the only verbose process!) makes perfect sense to address a lot of inconsistencies.

Re: Media Library not showing Multimedia Folder - solved on TS-251+
Hi
I had a similar problem. Media library seemed to be working (on), media folders from the settings were gone missing and I could not update media streaming app.
In addition I could not use HD player as it did not search for new multimedia and it did not update library on start-up. I tried restarts, system reinstalation, switching on/off - nothing worked.
Basing on a previous hint from this forum that it could be caused by many subfolders within a multimedia containing folder I noticed that generation of thumbnails from one particular folder is taking a lot of time. This folder contained tiffs with long and complicated names. I removed this folder (copied to other folder - not scanned for multimedia) and suddenly everything started to work properly. The only thing I made was to restart the server.
Hope this helps at least for someone, good luck!
