Recovery software anyone ?

Post by Antjac »

Hello, trying to recover my JBOD setup, had QNAP support do a Teamviewer session, but they were unable to recover anything as all my partitions have vanished.
I know the data is not lost, as I tried free software to recover some data already, via a sata to usb cable, but am looking for something without limits and maintain the structure, file names if possible.
Don't mind paying for it, just too many choices and scam websites out there, just wondering if anyone here has had any experience with a good software specialising in JBOD recovery, or a service which they can recommend, or if anyone has been in a similar situation.
Thanks

Use RAID and external backups. RAID will protect you from disk failure, keep your system running, and data accessible while the disk is replaced, and the RAID rebuilt. Backups will allow you to recover data that is lost or corrupted, or from system failure. One does not replace the other.

Sorry for delay in responding, I'm new to this, thought I'd get an email notification or something. (Have now ticked the notify box....)
I can give you the full explanation, but the short of it is that after a recent firmware upgrade, I tried to do something with Putty, cos I had a problem and the headers vanished, so now every time I log in, it wants to take me through 'Smart Installation', like it's a new drive, but do not want to go past the 'format all drives' stage.
QNAP support logged in and couldn't see anything, all drives were blank, but I know the data is still there as I've tried some free software on the first drive and can see recovery is possible, but not structured or labelled, just wondered if there is some way of recovering or restoring the QNAP MBR, if there is such a thing, as I haven't touched the other 3 drives.
Anything you can suggest or have experience in would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

No experience with JBOD. Never used it, never will, and would never recommend it to anyone. With JBOD if you loose one disk you loose the entire array.

Sorry I can’t be of any help.
