Connection reset by peer. Remote backup service might be restarted/stopped.

Post by mlock »

Hello i am trying to back up nas to nas, in the same lan and i get an error Connection reset by peer. Remote backup service might be restarted/stopped. It used to work properly for years.
Also i cannot enter the location of the shared folders from explorer when i type \\192.168.1.112 which is the ip of the remote server. It says the specified network is no longer available, but i can enter from web panel.
Model is ts212

Thank you

I also have the same error "Error 2022-01-09 17:24:04 admin 127.0.0.1 Hybrid Backup Sync Custom Job Event [Hybrid Backup Sync] Failed to complete Backup job: "JOBNAME". Connection reset by peer.. Check logs for more information."
"[Hybrid Backup Sync] Failed to complete Backup job "JOBNAME" due to network error. Attempting to retry. Connection reset by peer. Error code: -104."

I have a TS-453 Pro running Firmware version: 5.0.0.1891

I tried to follow these instructions viewtopic.php?t=92724 but get different results and therefore am unable to push the desired value of "0" to script.

Code: Select all

[~] # grep ^xsTimeout /etc/init.d/rsyncRR.sh
xsTimeout=`/sbin/getcfg "${RR_sche}" "Timeout" -f "${RR_CONF}" -d "600"`
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated?

This appears to have solved my issues backing up a TVS-671 to a TVs-659 as well, using HBS or Hybrid Backup and Sync, receiving a "connection reset by peer" error. Wish QNAP would fix the firmware on device such as the 659, which is older but still perfectly capable, to work better.

It's especially annoying that backing up works with any third party solution, but QNAP's own software fails.

I too have this problem...

However the process appears to have resumed, or at least it is still running. (selecting the "Running Background tasks" icon at the top reports one background task running.

This is confirmed in HBS3 if I select: Jobs - Report Icon - Details Icon - Details Icon again then I can see that a file is copying and watch its progress

But it ultimately failed permanently, despite there being no other activity as I was absent for 6 days. a one way sync has been more successful in that it fails but at least seems to recover consistently, so I am hopeful I will have a 14Tb backup after only 11 days.... I will now look for a third part product, any recommendations welcome...
