RSYNC and Directories

Post by rohded » Thu Sep 29, 2022 12:16 am

Hi Team,

I am trying to use QNAP to RSYNC files to another directory on another NAS.

For Example.

Sync files in /VM to /VM on the other NAS.

In my case, it creates another VM directory on the remote NAS under /VM so files look like /VM/VM - files.

How can I keep the directories the same?

Did you use HBS3 for replication?
Or did you use CLI commands?
Please give some more details.

Rsync is very picky about the syntax and you need to be very careful about using a trailing slash or not. Also, in general without knowing a lot more information, copying /VM to /VM is generally wrong as what you want to do is copy /VM to / (as VM will be created/updated as it is part of the source).

Hi dosborne,

It seems copying /VM to / would take a share called "/". I have not been able to make one. Is it not possible?
