RTRR always fails

Post by dysmas »

Hello,
we have a system with a TS221 in Raid 1 and a TS219 for backup with RTRR, scheduled every day.
The system worked for years, until a disk died in the Raid. Raid reconstruction, strangely, was a huge problem, but we managed to fix it and it is working presently.
At the same time, the disk in the TS219 was found dead also. It had not been checked for a too long time. So we replaced it. When the disk was new, and all replications (8) were started together, the transfer was OK, and done in the time expected.

Then we started the sheduled the RTRR tasks for update, and at this point problems occurred. Normally, it takes minutes. The first one took 1h30. The following ones just stayed indefinitely on 0%. Since they are never ended, there is no error message in the logs.

I add that the NAS is used for data storage, with a very low traffic, except when someone does a full system image, which happens once or twice a month. Otherwise expected daily traffic is between 100MB and 1GB.

We have made lots of tests, it always fails.

Since we have two TS219, we have made tests with different firmwares and found that some firmwares are buggy, and RTRR does not work at all. We have flashed the TS219 with a firmware known to work, but the problem is still there. We cannot suspect the network since the system worked for years, and nothing changed in the network.
Rsync does not work as well.

After spending so much time on this problem, we think to change the whole system and turn to Synology because our engineer is really tired from Qnap. But before that, I wanted to ask here if someone has any idea.
Thanks a lot in advance.
