PCIe Video Card for TS-453B with HDMI 2.0a

Post by anotherbrian2 » Mon Jul 30, 2018 4:39 pm

A PCIe Video Card for TS-453B with HDMI 2.0a outlet would be nice. Hopefully this would allow the NAS to remain the 'Go To Choice' for Home Theatre enthusiasts into the future.

why would home theatre enthusiats play directly from a loud blinky nas ?

they use the nas as a server and play with a good network player

on higher priced and larger units you can also place a video card in

It is hard to imagine a video hard fitting in the small PCIe slot of the TS-453B.
This NAS already has an HDMI 1.4B port. This allows for 4K but only at 30 frames per second. But if you want a higher frame rate at 4K, I think it makes sense to stream to another device to play the video.

I like streaming because it is easy to play video on any device and even when I am away from home.

I'd love to see also an available GPU for TS-453B Series, we need Hardware acceleration with Plex or GPU pass-through with Virtualization.

I'd rather use Nvidia or AMD gpus, don't you?

I don't transcode at all (direct play) .. so I don't mind either way

I see, to be honest my main focus would be for the Virtualization GPU Pass-through for now..
