multiple VLANs on one NIC (trunking)

Post by cryptochrome »

Hi,

with all the new network switch and virtualization features and even SMB NAS models getting 10 GbE interfaces built in (TVS-x82 series), we still cannot bind multiple VLANs on a single NIC. You can only have one VLAN on a NIC, which kind of defeats the purpose. I would like to request this as a feature. The Linux kernel can do this without problem, it's just a matter of exposing it in QTS.

Thanks

When is scheduled release date of QTS 4.3?

It seems to me strange that the multiple vlan on NiC (or in load balancing NIC) is not yet developed. In a virtual environment is a must.

Thanks

A.

It really puzzles me that this hasn't been implemented yet, given the fact that it's a standard Linux feature and all they need to do is expose it in the QTS gui.

I now test the QTS 4.3 Technical Preview and there is NO multiple VLAN tagging :(

that is more than ridiculous.

Is the technical preview of QTS 4.3 public?

It's a work-in-progress build. There are several design and implementation mishaps around Network & Virtual Switch along with Virtualisation Station and Container Station resolved.

QNAP selected tech preview distribution (from QTS 4.2 Tech Preview I guess).
