iStat-server v3 .qpkg

Post by patricepm »

Hi all,

First, upfront my apologies if I'm going to ask something that is already out there, I haven't found it then (help!?!).

I've recently bought the iStat-view app to remote monitor my QNAP but I also recently found out that the version QNAP Store is offering is 0.5.7 which is not working with the version 3 of iStat-View.
Tried something to install the version downloaded from the programmes website but no luck...

Anybody have this newer version running and could help me out with the "How" or in case there's a .qpkg out..I'd also would like to know about it.

Anyway, thanks for the help in advance.

Hey patricepm, since QNAP switched to 64 Bit the package has been broken and no-one took an issue with that. Most likely since a user needs to purchase/own the commercial client software to use it find out it does not work.

The curators of the qnap Packages didn't remove the iStat package for whatever reason.
The binary throws this info with "file istatd":
iStatd: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, interpreter /lib/ld-linux.so.2, for GNU/Linux 2.6.8, with debug_info, not stripped

So what now?

There is a very recent working package for Synology (https://bitbucket.org/jpboivin/istatserver-dsm) which is 64 Bit, but just moving the binary to a 64Bit Intel QNAP doesn't do the trick (i just tried) due different location demands of the config files (but it runs!) and alas, cross-compiling for qnap has been (too) complicated (for me) because of the dependencies of iStatserver, mainly libxml2. I don't get how to integrate it in the toolchain first. Hrmpf.

It would be great if someone would fix it by compiling a -static binary for istat server with the correct locations for the config files, but I would not hope much ... just take into consideration that for more than a year a completely broken package was/is in the official line in qnap and noone either fixed or removed it ...

I'd also appreciate an updated version of iStat server for QNAP.

Thanks for the comments, you all.
I'll try to file a request with QNAP...perhaps more should be doing this hoping it will help. :)

Have a good one!

Just ordered my first QNAP, coming from some old ReadyNAS devices. Used to iStat monitoring and would really like it for QNAP.

Just grab a Raspi and NEMSlinux. That's all you need for a great monitor tool for your whole network.

expecting qnap to miraculously compile an app for you wont happen. if you care to research, these forums are community based and we (the community) have no input into the forum design, which has a forum called "Features Wanted"

its a myth, and worthless subforum.

if you require an app or need one to be updated, Submit a ticket to QNAP.
