TS-451+ 100% Load

Post by csuttichujit »

Hello,

My 1st post here, so sorry in advance if I post this in the wrong section.

I have a TS-451+ with FW 4.3.3 0299 built 20170901. The issue I'm having is after the system has been running for a while, I receive a notice saying

"Swap Memory is currently been used to free out space for physical memory. When it is required to unplug disk(s) where Swap Partition(s) are located, please unplug them one by one."

Then after a few hours, the CPU load kicks up to 100% and all services were come to a halt. After that I received these repeatedly for a few times:

"[myQNAPcloud] CloudLink service for mobile and PC applications is not available. You may not be able to access your QNAP device via QNAP mobile apps or PC utilities via CloudLink. Please make sure your device is connected to the Internet and the UDP traffic is not blocked. error code: [3]"
"[myQNAPcloud] CloudLink service for mobile and PC applications is ready."

I tried SSH into it and found that 'afpd3.pid' was holding a tremendous amount of CPU.

I normally resolved this by simply just restart the system, but this keeps on happening over and over.

I tried research my issue and found nothing. Please help.

Regards,
Mike

How much RAM do you have? You can go to 8GB (officially).

Do you have Malware Remover installed just to rule out malware? Do you have Macs accessing your NAS? If not, try disabling Mac access (afp) and see if that helps.

No, I do not have malware remover, any recommendation? My Mac is pretty much the only accessing Mac, though I didn't even access my NAS that much often. Although, I tried turned off AFP, but somehow that troublesome process 'afpd3.pid' was still running.

Now, It was fine before I made some changes on my NAS and environment. The changes being the internet connection and 4*4 TB WD RED on Raid 1 (was a single 4 TB before).

I don't think DLNA streaming is an issue. Any thoughts?

Install and run Qnap’s Malware Remover app from app center. I would also open a helpdesk ticket just to be safe.

Malware Remover installed, no infection found. I did open the ticket and they remote supported into my system while my issue was not happening, so of course they found nothing wrong.

This is frustrating....

ps. I turned off AFP and the system has been running fine for around 6 hours since my last manual restart, but I just got the 'Swap Memory is currently been used to free out space for physical memory.' message just a couple minutes ago. Will keep you updated on how it goes.
