Unable to Unlock/Decrypt Shared Folder

Post by shauno100 » Mon Nov 13, 2017 7:45 am

Hi, i have a TS-251 with the latest 4.3.4 beta installed. I raised a helpdesk ticket regarding a snapshot SMB permission issue. In the process of setting up remote support for the technician i encrypted 2 of my shared folders. During the encryption process my NAS went into Read Only mode for some reason with multiple errors appearing stating the storage pool was full. To remedy this I then proceeded to reboot the NAS (not sure if this was halfway during encryption process or not) and then deleted my snapshot reserved area to free up some space in the pool. The NAS is now out of Read Only mode without errors but when i now go and click the padlock icons next to each of the encrypted folders and enter the password to unlock the folder i receive an error "Ajax request failed"

I am 100% using the correct password, when i enter the wrong password the error is "execution failed".

I am really concerned that i will not be able to recover my data which is 10 years worth, i recently wiped my external USB drive temporarily which had a backup due to other reasons so i now don't have any backup.

I've read that rolling back the firmware to the latest official version and then unlocking/decrypting may resolve?

Has anyone been in a similar situation with encrypted shared folders? Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Shaun

best if you report this to QNAP via ticket, so they can fix the folder encryption process

Was this resolved?
I recently ran into the same issue. Our folder got encrypted normally, but while decrypting it keeps saying Ajax request failed.
Please let me know how to work around this or how to resolve it.

Thank you.
