DAS TR-004 -- Failed TR-004 recover by installing drives in new unit?
I have a TR-004 running RAID 5 with 4 x 12TB (36TB usable) as my NAS backup device. This is only theoretical, but what if my TR-004 unit dies (the device, not the drives)? Can I just pull the drives from an existing TR-004 and plug them into another one? Or will it see them as new drives and wipe them and start fresh?

Best to ask QNAP that question.
It could work (if the destination NAS is configured for the right RAID type)
But QNAP should know (and they could test it)

Just posting this here to follow up... support responded, and it does state under "Notes:" on the product page for TR-004: https://www.qnap.com/en-us/product/tr-004
"3. Drives can only be migrated from one TR-004 to another TR-004. The files and data stored on drives moved to/from a NAS (or another device) will not be recognized."
They did confirm that this was the only way, no way to mount them otherwise.

NAS to TR004 (or vice versa) wasn't even asked for .. or did I miss that?
So basically they confirmed that TR004 to TR004 works (but did not mention any preparation that needs to be done on the new TR004)
