The space is there, but the raid/storage pool just cannot be increased anywhere?! What can i do (screenshot attached)

best,
gekko

goto manage the volume from storage/snapshots
from the next screen, click manage and from the drop down, select replace disks one by one
in the next screen, at the bottom is the button to 'expand capacity'

Thank you very much! That was easier than expected. I would not have guessed to click on "replace one by one" to find that button....

Static volumes are pools, there is no "expand pool" for them.

"Expand capacity" is what's needed.

The best thing to do is not answer people that jump in on threads and tell them to start new thread. The OP was talking about a static volume.

Did you just pull each drive and replace it, or did you follow the procedure in the manual for increasing the size of the RAID? If you just pulled them one-by-one, you will not get the option to expand the capacity because you didn't tell the NAS you wanted to do that. It figured that you were replacing a broken drive (you made it broken when you pulled it).
I think i found it - its shocking how buried this option is...

Yes that's the correct answer. It's in the "replace disks one by one" menu. Thank you

The process will lead to a volume resync which I found a little confusing as I was just expecting an expansion.

Not the way a RAID configuration works. Resyncing is a must before expansion can happen.

yeah, this is poorly organized (IMO).. I was following instructions on replacing disks and still was confused at the end on how to expand the RAID to use the new/larger drives. Definitely need some UI testing/feedback. It doesn't make sense to go back thru the replace disk menu item after replacing both, just to find the expand option.

Thanks for this, I found the buried command and it is "synchronizing". Four hours from now I'll see what I have.

Hello guys, I have similar problem. Device is TS-453A and firmware 4.4.3

I had 4x2Tb drives in 2 RAID-1 fields. I replaced them all one-by-one from menu and rebudild done for each drive. But web interface disconnected in process of 8-hour resync for 2 drives and I didn't have "extend capacity" option anymore :(
What can I do now (other than try to disable auto-logout on web and do it all over again)

thanks a lot for your support mates!

gui logout has no effect on runnning processes

check if the drive replacement ran into an error

yes I know it has no effect on running processes but I had off option to open windows which were opened on logout when I login again so I didn't have "expand capacity" option as rebuild finished.
Never mind, I did it all over again (only for 2/4 drives was needed), after disabling auto-logout. Worked like a charm.
