Upgrading TS453a to (4) 8TB drives from 6TB. Figuring I'd spread the pain over a couple of months, and replace 2 at a time. First one in, throwing all kinds of errors, and I was like what did I do wrong here??? Replaced it with the second drive, no problem. First time I've had a brand new drive fail on installation!

Drives can always fail DOA...without stating what errors you saw, hard to tell what happened

Re: Brand new Hard Drive failed
Store I bought it from is completely out of drives, sending it back to WDC for warranty.
Not sure what happened, it started throwing a bunch of codes, and I made the mistake of pulling it out while it was still spinning, which I'm sure didn't help it in the least. Other hard drive, no issues, went in just like it was supposed to.
Replacing drives that are over 3 years old. Probably a bit soon to be replacing drives, but with 8T, I should be set for a lot of years. I'll probably order two more next month and get this project finished.
