TVS-471 SATA Controller failure ?

Post by yann35 »

Hello all,

I recently bought a used TVS-471. Unfortunately, when trying the HDD bays, I discovered that the bay #2 was not able to detect the insertion of a HDD. All the other slots are working ok (I used the same disk to test all the SATA ports). When connecting a HDD on the SATA port #2, the hard drive is not spinning, it looks like no power is sent to that port...
I have opened a ticket with QNAP support who asked me an access to the NAS. They did check and came back to me with a RMA proposal.
The cost of this RMA is very expensive (Level 2 RMA).

Any idea of which part may be faulty ? The SATA controller board or the mother board ?
Any way to get a spare part somewhere ?

Thanks a lot in advance for your feedback.
Have a great day.
