Cloning two NAS?

Post by smilingReeX »

We use a QNAP TS-231P unit and we just bought a QNAP TS-231K
Both units use dual 4TB Hds in mirroring mode
We would like to:
- clone TS-231P over Ts-231K (all settings)
- synchronize changes daily

Is this feasible?

cloning data automatically on an ongoing basis should be easy via Hybrid Backup Station (someone else can explain the details, I don't use it). You could do a backup of settings (manually from the WebUI) and restore them to the other system (manually) assuming they are both on the same firmware version. That would be a one time thing that you do manually but do you really need the configuration of the two devices synced automatically every day? Generally you configure the settings once and then don't touch them for quite some time. If you ever do make adjustments you'd make that same adjustment to both systems.

Exactly, I would clone once, then synchronise manually using Fastcopy

settings cannot be cloned..even the manual settings backup cannot be used spanning device models

Is there a way to one-click backup the whole NAS to the secondary one, eventually using an app on the NAS?
That would be a NAS to NAS operation...
