TS-1673U-RP boot loop after firmware update

Post by robyf70 »

Hi Guys,

Yesterday after upgrading the firmware I got my TS-1673U-RP stuck in a boot loop. After attaching the console cable I've got the crash below.

I've tried to follow the Firmware Recovery procedure but the link doesn't specify which clonezilla should I use for my QNAP. I've tried the
specified link http://download.qnap.com/Storage/tsd/li ... onsole.iso because I think this is what I likely need
but doesn't exists, so I tried http://eu1.qnap.com/Storage/tsd/live_cd ... onsole.iso which worked but after flashing
a USB Key doesn't show at all any console boot options.

Re: TS-1673U-RP boot loop after firmware update

Post by robyf70 »

I did some progress, I was able to "reflash" the recovery img, but it seems a kernel problem , I will try to downgrade the firmware to see if I get it working back again

Hello bro, have you solved the problem?
I have the same problem with you. My machine is QNAP TVS-872XT, after I upgraded QTS 5.0 RC and QuTS 5.0 beta, as soon as I restart, I will get stuck in BOOTING SYSTEM without any reaction, and then have to force a power outage restart to successfully enter the system. I don't even know what to do.

Had the same issue on mine when updating to QTS5

Had to use the firmware recovery which worked for me, but staying away from QTS5

I’ve HDMI port on the back of mine which made somewhat easier

I was able to get everything back after downgrading the firmware. I'm currently have v4.3.6.0959.

I would also say that for reflashing my QNAP I had to find the right URL for bootable reflash image and for the right firmware version to dd on internal /dev/sda. Finally I had to customize the clonezilla image to in order to boot correctly and avoid a kernel panic which was affecting most of the image available on the QNAP site.

The rest of the operation went pretty straight and in about 20min I got back my QNAP.
