Bad sectors on one disk in RAID 5 group

Post by persephone »

I have a TS 453D with a single static volume (4 disk) setup. Disk 4 is showing a warning based on S.M.A.R.T. showing a abnormal sector count of 12. A scan for bad blocks reported some bad blocks. Raid status is ready and running fine.
I did buy a replacement disk.
What is the recommended procedure:
- take (rip) the disk out and replace it.
- detach the disk and replace with a new one (will it attach and start rebuilding automatically?
- just wait for it to fail ?
