Auto Update since updating to 5.0.0.1828

Post by scoobyfizz »

On my one nas (TS-328) since updating to QTS 5.0.0.1828 it is showing the message ' the auto update function has been disabled' when in fact is is enabled. I switch it off and back on and is is fine for a couple of days and then it comes back (This nas has regular shut down and power up times as it is a backup NAS only).

Anybody else noticed this or how can I fix this? Is it just a red herring or is there something else amiss?

Regarding QNAP firmware history, it might be better to switch Autoupdate off anyway and just check regularly your self.

Please see the firmware threads for what I mean ....

I turned it off as soon as I noticed it was on.

Now, every time I go to the admin page, the message "The auto-update function has been disabled" pops up, without the option to delete it.

Any idea of how to get rid of it?

Submit a ticket with a complaint to QNAP. forcing users to update to the "next" available firmware by default is pretty dangerous since 50% of firmware releases seem to get pulled by QNAP for unknown reasons.

The notification is annoying but not a game changer.

Is there still no way to turn the annoying notification off?

Did you enter a helpdesk ticket with QNAP as suggested?

Done. Here is the response I received:
I can understand that but for security we can't disable that notification.
Please ignore the notification and use it as some kind of reminder for firmware update.
I'll file that one away in the "not helpful" bucket.
TS-230, TS-253A, both with latest stable QTS
