Can't rebuild RADI1

Post by shamdal »

At first, I got the warning about my Disk1 then the warning Disk 2 after the day. I buy the 2 new drive to replace the warning one.

This is the replace step
1. Go to storage/snapshot and click manage.
2. Click replace disks one by one and select Disk 1 to replace.
3. Remove disk1 from my QNAP.
4. Replace the new drive to Disk1 slot.
5. I saw the new drive on QNAP user interface but the drive not automatically start the rebuild.
- Raid Group 1 status : Degraded
- NAS Host Disk 1 : Not Member
- NAS Host Disk 2 : Warning
6. I try to rebuild manually but don't have drive in the list like this.

with two problematic disks (what kind of issue are the drives reporting each?) rebuild is probably not possible

start the raid from scratch and restore from backups

it's a cat2 device (md_checker works ...so even though you never disclosed the model..I guess so much)

so remove the current volume and create a new one, on new disks (with your two new disks) ...create your default and custom shares then restore from the backups

Could you please provide the step to fully backup (including data, user, vpn, etc.)?

I found a message "no volumn and/or storage pool" when I go to snapshot backup.

Alright, Thank You.

I will back up the data to an external hard disk, then start the NAS from scratch and restore data back to NAS again.

Hello shamdal , I am deeply concerned, I have exactly the same case . Did you progress to rebuild the RAID or did you contact QNAP ? Good luck and waiting for your news
