USB cardreader thinks it is a UPS and shuts down system

Post by muppets4 »

I have my system setup for almost a year now. Since today I am experiencing problems. On my end nothing has changed.

I have a USB card reader attached to the system. It need it for OSCAM. Been using that from the start. Since this morning my system was acting up, so I went into the webinterface. There I got a message that 'a new externaldevice was found'. Nothing else but the card reader is attached to it. When I close this message my system automatically shuts itself down. The log states:

[external device] Deteceted UPS power loss. Shutting down NAS in 30 seconds

I do not own a UPS. And when I detach the card reader the system is fine. As I have said before, on my end there were no changes. Anyone for the rescue?

Am I the only one that sees this kind of behavior?

Two updates since and the issue is still there. Qnap hides behind 'unsupported device'. And that is off course true, but I 'm wondering why I cannot tell the system manually that no UPS is installed.

Still my system shuts itself down because of a card reader that the Qnap identifies as a UPS.
