I have a 4-Bay TS-421 Nas with 4 Seagate 4TB hard drives in raid 5.
Firmware 4.3.3.1799 Build 20211008
Recently one of the disks failed. so, I replaced it with a raid quality drive of the same size but a different brand (it was a Western Digital) after formatting it shows up as ready so I added it to my existing raid. The process made it to 98% rebuild then fails.
The error reads "[RAID5 Disk Volume Drive 1 3 4 2] Expanding Raid Device Failed"
Can someone advise me on what I'm doing wrong?
Can't add new Disk to existing Raid 5

Re: Can't add new Disk to existing Raid 5
you are not adding the drive ..the raid already had 4 drives..
procedure should have been hotswap (pull and replace the defective drive while the nas is running)
