Greetings all
My nas shows disk 5, 7 and 8 in a raid 5 array and that there are no volumes or storage polls (rebuilding my unit). md_checker returns it's greetings but nothing more and mdadm --assemble --scan returns No arrays found in the config file.
I want to destroy this array and continue to rebuild.
I'm stuck.

If you want to start the NAS from scratch, take all drives out and clean them (e.g. diskpart) .. then start the nas as if it was fresh unboxed

you said 3 drives failed..and you want to start from scratch..if that's not correct, explain again what the setup of your NAS is

I have rest the nas with the qnap folks on the phone. I have 2 m.2, 4 ssd and 8 10tb drives. for some unknown reason i have 3 drives still showing that they are in a raid 5 configuration. The system shows me zero storage volumes and zero storage pools. I ran a scan of the 3 drives last night and there are zero errors reported.

So you don't want to start from scratch ? (you have some storage config you want to reuse? )
If you do want to start from scratch clean all disks (as mentioned above) as all disks contain the OS and config .. so as long as one uncleaned disks is still in the NAS you will have a borked OS
