2 Raids 1 Pool...

Post by Skaboy »

Good morning,

I have run into a problem after a few years with my device, and I can't seem to see how to fix it.

I have a TVS-882 with an initial 3x 6 TB drives. I created a storage pool, and a RAID5. A year later I came across 3x 2 TB drives. I created a new RAID5 array and added it to my storage pool. I created 2 different RAID arrays because I had 2 different size disks. That's why I didn't/couldn't expand the existing raid.

Fast forward to this week. I've already concluded that I need to upgrade. My Plex OTA DVR has grown, my PC backups, and all my streaming footage has filled up my drives. I've decided to bite the bullet and upgrade the smaller RAID to 6 TB drives.

Now, the problem I'm having is that I can't seem to delete the smaller 2TB RAID array. I was able to remove 1 drive and add in one of the 6TB drives, but it's still in the same small RAID.

What I would like to do is to remove the smaller RAID5 raid from my raid pool without loosing data from the other RAID5 that is still in the pool. How can I accomplish this?

Kill the entire pool, or just the raid? Can I just eject all 3 drives?
