Malware Remover

Post by TECH1982 »

Qnap has default a malware scanning (current firmware: 4.5.4.2012), however i'll be storing folders from Amiga related platforms, which i know it will pick up as "virus/malware"

These will be .adf disk images of Amiga that will have virus-like bootblocks but will be picked up by other platform antivirual products..

Is there any way to disable Malware Remover? Would disabling "schedule scan" do it?, as i see no where to exclude any folders

It's petty basic looks like. Otherwise my only option would be this large folder on external HD only

Sure malware remover would be the issue ? (as far as we know that program only looks for QNAP specific malware infections) or are you talking about the antivirus?

Both can be disabled in app center btw

On a related topic: I recently discovered QNAP have decided Malware Remover shouldn't be uninstallable by the user once installed. I complained about this with a support ticket, but they say it's by-design and won't change this behaviour.

Regardless, it's a rather trivial matter to uninstall it, just need to hack its config first. Another fine piece of QNAP engineering defeated by a home-hobbyist.

That some non QNAP system malware be VERY unlikely to trip malware remover
