Status LED is solid orange/amber - why?

Post by CHCH-M »

We noticed recently the status LED on our QNAP TS-431XeU was solid orange/amber.

Does anyone know why this might be? According to the user guide, there isn't a status whereby the light is solid orange/amber.

The NAS itself is working perfectly ok - no issues whatsoever with any of the hardware or software.

I would be grateful to hear if anyone else has come across this just in case there is an issue we need to be aware of.

Thanks

Check:

Volume/Pool Thresholds
Smart Status of all disks
Temperature of the NAS or drives

It would be strange if there was no indication in the system logs or matching warnings in the Admin GUI console.

Haha. You will no doubt laugh with us on this one...

The status light WAS orange/amber last week - we went past the 80% disk space threshold but swiftly resolved that issue.

I am slightly colour blind and so not the best person to be checking status lights on hardware but there you go.

Anyway, my colleague was certain the light ws orange/amber as it had been when he last checked. I got him to check it this morning and he confirmed it was now GREEN which means all systems normal.

Many thanks for your replies and I hope this post helps out a colour-blind sys admin in the future!!

That's why a tripped threshold was on top of my list
