Max Drive Size for TS-653 Pro?
I checked the compatibility list for the TS-653 Pro and the max size listed was 16TB, but wondering if the list hasn't been updated and the TS-653 Pro can accommodate larger (e.g., 20TB drives). Anyone have larger than 16TB installed?

yes the site would normally say the limit like u mentioned.
if nobody comes along to clarify you may have to ask helpdesk
https://service.qnap.com/en
most of us though just rely on what the product page says it supports on limit normally.

Re: Max Drive Size for TS-653 Pro?
yeh but he is asking for a different model though. TS-653 Pro
i have an older model a ts-509 pro, those r capped at 2tb drives per bay (if i had to guess why that is, probly a combination of firmware and hardware limitations). but i tend to use 4tb drives... hence why i had to upgrade my nas to a modern model

Re: Max Drive Size for TS-653 Pro?
The compability list for the TS251 goes to 16TB as well, yet my WD18TB Ultrastar works flawless. Thats why I mentioned it.
In my experience, when a HDD is on the compability list for one recent model/processor family, it works in other older models as well. The TS653Pro has the same (flawed, see the dead x51/x53 topic) Intel processor family. Besides, SATA is standard protocol, so why shouldn't it work.

Re: Max Drive Size for TS-653 Pro?
The most important hint to take care is the NAS model and firmware.
In old Cat1 models the volume size cant exceed 16TB when expanded. When new intialized, volume size can exceed 16TB!
Anyhow, there are some old models which can only use volumes up to 16TB, regardless if volume is expanded or NAS is new intialized.
In such a NAS disks with large capacity can be useless (depends to raid level and disk count).
Regards

Re: Max Drive Size for TS-653 Pro?
Since 16TB is listed, following the advice above is great and your chances I would think are pretty good.
Just buy a drive with a good return policy, give it a try, then return it if it doesn't work. I hate saying that as I disagree with that approach and philosophy (I will never buy anything from Amazon) as it just increases the cost for people that do their research, but it is an option.
