TS-251+ VOLUME GOOFUP

Post by NASBULKHDD »

I have two 8TB WD drives
both were mounted as single disk each in their own pool (if i remember correctly)

i powered the device down removed HD2 that wasn't marked as system
and tried to add a new 12TB HD and add the volume as a new single disk in its own pool.
that worked great but when i tried to put back the old 8TB to use it i was not able to access the data.

i am not sure at all how to regain access to the 8TB please advise.

version 5.0.1.2194

Those are NAS not simple drive enclosures..., they work with shares..if these are gone you need to recreate them and point them to the right storage volume manually (forum search or manual)

Also I hope you always have full external backups..even more so with single drives

recreate the shares..not the volume

https://docs.qnap.com/operating-system/ ... E8DD8.html

manual path definition to the intended volume

no backups thanks for the suggestion i opened a ticket, i had no idea about the inner workings of how qnap setup the drives into raid1

i am hoping i can recover access to the data as the harddrive was not damaged or even plugged in when i was editing the config for the new 12tb i inserted causing this issue.

really had no idea id break something with the original raid config when i added a new hard drive and messed with the configs on the web panel
