Migrating from a 6 bay to a 8 bay : RAID 5 not mounting anymore
Hi
My TS-639 pro has died on me.A DOM problem apparently.
I tried to put the 6 working drives into a 8 bay , a TS-809 pro a friend lent me.
It shows up in my web interface but the RAID 5 volume although recognized as functional is not mounted. It shows a lock icon and i can't find a way to open it...
Any help welcome
have a nice day everyone

The migration should be possible
https://www.qnap.com/en/nas-migration?o ... -809%20pro
Try a firmware update on the 809 pro, the DOM image could be ancient, also please post screenshots to further illustrate what you are seeing.

Thx dolbyman
For obvious reasons, i could not update the OS in the former NAS.
The TS-809 pro on the other hand is perfectly up to date. No other problem from what i read on the page...
i will boot it and upload the screenshot of what i see

It says Folders (Public,Qweb,Qmultimedia,Qdownload) for default network shares do not exist. Restore default network shares or format your disk drive

They don't seem to be able to do anything...
The sad thing is that NOTHING happened...no surge no cut, no crash nothing...and still it cannot be recovered...
I'm leaving the NAS paradigm with no regret. i will buy huge HD by couple and make a sync ... At least if i have a problem with one, i'd still have the other. With NAS you need a second NAS... Too expensive for a random joe like me...
Thanks to anyone that read my messages
